Safe and stress-free holidays with Original BMW Accessories. Perfect on-board solutions for the transport and well-being of the whole family.

For many people, holiday time is the best time of the year. However, going on holiday also poses challenges for families. With Original BMW Accessories developed exclusively for travel, leisure time and transport, these challenges can be mastered easily and conveniently. For example, thanks to Original BMW child seats, the kids are also well taken care of during holiday trips.

Munich. Transport and storage bags developed by BMW such as the BMW storage bag Fond ensure your holiday luggage is kept nice and tidy. Not only can additional luggage be securely stowed away in the BMW roof boxes, but also bicycles on the roof-mounted BMW bicycle carrier or the rear-mounted BMW transport system. The BMW cooling bag and the BMW side window sunblind both help provide a sense of well-being during the trip. Moreover, children on holiday are given the perfect opportunity of learning to ride a bicycle both proficiently and playfully using the walking bike/pedal bike combination BMW Kids Bike, whilst at the same time being able to act out their urge to move around. Of course, a BMW safety vest for each passenger is a must, as it enhances safety in the event of a breakdown and prevents fines imposed in countries in which safety vests are mandatory. The “marks” left on and inside the car during a holiday are simply and permanently removed using specially developed Original BMW Care products such as a silicone remover concentrate, hard wax featuring nanotechnology or leather cleaning foam.
Optimal protection and maximum travel comfort for children.
BMW Original child seats are ideal for ensuring that the kids travel in safety and comfort. Three different seat types offer optimal conditions for travelling with babies, small children and children up to an age of approximately twelve years. BMW child seats fulfil the European ECE R44-04 standard for child retaining systems and are further tested to comply with the EURO NCAP safety requirements. In the process, additional front and side crash tests are also performed under real-life conditions. All BMW child seats feature patented Airpad technology. Integrated air cushions control movement of the head in the event of a side collision. Child seats guarantee a comfortable seating position and allow great freedom of movement.
BMW child seats are available either in classic black/anthracite or sporty black/blue. All textiles used on the child seats comply with typical stress standards required for automotive applications, permit an exchange of heat and facilitate sufficient extraction of moisture and supply of fresh air.
Three seat types for different age groups.
The BMW BABY SEAT GROUP 0+ is perfectly suitable for babies up to an age of around 15 months. The seat is conveniently fastened facing rearwards using the ISOFIX base. Additional safety is provided by the separately available ISOFIX base, which is connected to the vehicle’s ISOFIX attachment points and, thanks to a support bracket, offers even greater stability.
The BMW JUNIOR SEAT GROUP 1 is the ideal solution for the age range of approximately 12 months to four years. It is connected securely to the vehicle via the ISOFIX base and can be used facing either rearwards or forwards.
For children from 3 to 12 years of age we recommend the BMW JUNIOR SEAT GROUP 2/3, which is simply clicked into the vehicle’s attachment points via the integrated connectors for the rear seat ISOFIX eyelets. Single-handed adjustment of height and width is possible, allowing the seat to “grow” with the child. Furthermore, the seat can be simply folded up for stowing and also conveniently transported outside the vehicle in the backpack provided.
No matter what is taken along – everything is securely and conveniently stowed away. Inside the car, multifaceted storage space is provided by exclusive BMW transport and storage bags, which excel through simple and secure attachment, high-quality workmanship and maximum functionality. For example, the BMW backrest bag, which can be hung around the front seat headrests and secured to the bottom of each front seat, offers numerous lockable storage compartments and additional attachment options such as for a tissue box or bottles that can be conveniently stowed in the integrated bottle holder. The high-quality backrest bag can be folded up into a practical carry case for use outside the vehicle. The BMW storage bag Fond is made from a material combination of genuine leather. Firmly secured using the middle rear seat safety belt, it features – in addition to ample space for small items such as children’s toys – a removable vanity bag and two integrated cup holders. Thanks to two handles and an integrated shoulder belt, the BMW storage bag Fond can also be comfortably transported outside of the car.
The beautifully designed BMW cooling box in black/anthracite also contributes towards a stress-free holiday with the children. Connected to the on-board 12-volt power outlet, it offers a capacity of 14 litres for chilled food and drinks, thus ensuring sufficient provisions for longer journeys.
The set comprising the BMW protective backrest cover and the BMW child seat underlay offers two benefits at the same time. For example, attached to the rear of the front seats, the backrest cover protects the seat backs against dirt from the shoes of kids sitting behind. Moreover, it features two bags for secure stowage of books or toys taken along on the trip for the children. The BMW child seat underlay is attached to the rear seat headrests and, thanks to its foam padding, prevents pressure marks that could otherwise result from the use of child seats on the back seats. Furthermore, it effectively protects the fronts of the rear seats against soiling from children’s shoes.
BMW Travel & Comfort System – one base carrier, many options. The modular BMW Travel & Comfort System enhances the pleasure of travelling and comfort inside the car. By means of a slip-in connector, this system permits simple and secure attachment of various different system components to a base carrier, which is mounted on the headrest bars of the front seats. There is, for example, a holder for various Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy tablets. The holder can be pivoted, angularly adjusted and rotated by 360 degrees – convenient for watching films in landscape format and, in portrait format, ideal for office activities. If desired, a folding table, which is adjustable in height and inclination and features an integrated cup holder, can also be attached to the base carrier, as can a coat hanger or a universal hook.
Protection from direct sunlight.Well-being on board a vehicle is also decisively influenced by the interior climate. Therefore, we recommend the BMW sunblind as the perfect supplement to the air conditioning system. It is available for the rear window and side windows of the rear compartment of many BMW vehicles and can also be used when these windows are open. Due to its custom-fit design it offers perfect protection of rear passengers, and children in particular, from direct sunlight, whilst also lowering the temperature inside the car. Moreover, it reduces reflection on media devices such as tablet PCs.
Learning to ride a bicycle with the BMW Kids Bike.Having at last arrived at the holiday destination after a long journey, children are able to act out their natural urge to move and be active. The BMW Kids Bike is best suited for this purpose. As a walking bike/pedal bike combination, the Kids Bike is ideal for children from two and a half to six years of age. Whilst the little ones are able to practise their sense of balance, their feeling for speed and the use of brakes with the cantilever front-wheel brake already mounted on the walking bike, the older children learn to ride a bike proficiently after the simple installation of the drive unit, pedals, chain and backpedal brake. The Kids Bike is fitted with 14-inch pneumatic tyres as well as a handlebar net and frame bag for small items. Safety features include reflectors and a likewise reflecting children’s bicycle helmet.

Perfectly matching cleaning and care products.Every trip leaves “marks” on and inside the car. These are easily and permanently removed using Original BMW Car Care Accessories. For example, the BMW silicone remover concentrate completely removes even heavy soiling such as diesel soot, grease, wax and dried insect and silicone residue from vehicle windows and headlights.   And hard wax featuring nanotechnology offers maximum protection against tree resin, de-icing salt and other environmental influences. In addition, fresh soiling that has occurred after treatment is much easier to remove. Furthermore, BMW leather cleaning foam guarantees thorough and gentle cleaning of all leather upholsteries featured in BMW vehicles. Cleaning and care products from the collection “PureCare inspired by BMW I” are particularly gentle and long-lasting. Thanks to their natural ingredients, they are biodegradable and eco-friendly.

New Renault CLIO design: interior and exterior

Updated style down to the tiniest of details
More character and personality in exterior design
A new lighting signature
New CLIO stands apart from the competition thanks to its full-LED front lighting signature (depending on
version) in-line with that of Renault’s other recent models.
At the front, full LED “Pure Vision” headlights fulfil the dual function of dipped and main beam. This technology
enhances the vehicle’s appearance as well as safety by emitting a light that is 20 percent more powerful than
a halogen beam whilst at the same time reducing glare. On higher-end versions, New CLIO’s headlamps
additionally incorporate C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), emblematic of the brand’s new lighting
signature. The permanent rear LED lights mirror this look by similarly adopting a C-shaped design (depending
on version, hatchback body type only). In its entry-level and mid-range versions, New CLIO benefits from LED
Daytime Running Lights and a chrome trim along the bottom of the grille.
The most stylish CLIO yet
At the front, the top grille that houses the logo has been redesigned, as has the lower grille which is now
visibly broader and more modern. At the rear, the skirt has been redesigned for additional robustness.
Meanwhile, four new colours have been added to the existing selection (Intense Red, Titanium Grey, Pearly
White and Iron Blue), along with new wheel and wheel trim designs.
Inside, New CLIO keeps all of its promises
Visually pleasing, quality materials
The New CLIO benefits from the introduction of materials more usually employed by Renault’s top-of-therange
models. The texture of its plastics is of a higher visual and tactile quality, its chrome is subtler, with less
gleam, and the colours inside the cabin are more refined. In short, the New CLIO is an altogether more grown-up
proposition, with its seductive style on the outside perfectly complemented by the sophistication within.
A series of upgrades driven by attention-to-detail and refinement
The steering wheel has been redesigned, with the discarding of some of its plastic components giving it a
more upmarket feel in keeping with the rest of New CLIO’s cabin. In higher-end versions, it is trimmed with fullgrain
leather. The gear lever, as well as the door panels, have been redesigned for a greater impression of
quality. Now in a single housing, the armrests are more aesthetically pleasing thanks to a new grained finish.
They also incorporate new controls. The central air vents sport a new look, too. The LED interior lighting produces
a pleasant glow. The seat fabrics are of a higher quality across the board and, in higher grades, the design
of the seats is more enveloping for superior lateral support.
A new customisation programme
Thanks to its new customisation programme, New CLIO can be purchased in more than 30 different colour
combinations. Customers are invited to choose from:
– five roof decals (graded design or single colour) and painted door mirrors for a two-tone effect,
– four exterior customisation packs: front grill bars and side protective mouldings.
All decals are factory-fitted, guaranteeing an impeccable finish.
New CLIO offers two new interior ambiences, namely Florida Red, Smoky Grey. The colours selected for the
dashboard are no longer dictated by those of the seat fabrics, allowing the customer greater freedom when it
comes to customisation.

New equipment that provides agility and connectivity
For more than 25 years, the Renault CLIO has consistently changed the game in terms of the equipment it has
offered, while at the same time revolutionising the versatile small city car market by incorporating technologies
hitherto reserved for vehicles from higher segments. New CLIO remains faithful to those roots by proposing
three different multimedia systems, plus other features that simplify the driving experience. Last but not least,
the opportunity to add Bose® sound quality for the first time on a Renault B-segment model provides access to
premium acoustics.
An increasingly connected car,
right from the entry level version
The R&Go® system now available on entry level version
New CLIO is firmly in tune with the times courtesy of R&Go®, a simple yet ingenious system that instantly
connects the vehicle with its user’s smartphone. With their smartphone placed in the universal cradle, and
thanks to a special application, users can easily and intuitively access the car’s most frequently employed
functions which have been separated into four different areas: Navigation, Phone, Multimedia and Vehicle.
Media Nav Evolution: exceptional value for money
Mid-range versions of New CLIO come with Media Nav Evolution, a comprehensive multimedia system that
offers the best benefit-cost ratio on the market, as evidenced by the wealth of features it incorporates.
Media Nav Evolution incorporates a dashboard-mounted 7-inch touch screen display and offers features such
as navigation with traffic information, Bluetooth connectivity to enable use of the telephone and listening to
music streamed from a smartphone, as well as rear view camera display and the Driving Eco2 function, which
provides drivers with information about the way they drive and tips on how to improve their fuel economy.
Renault R-LINK Evolution: the last word in on-board connectivity
Renault R-LINK Evolution and its suite of connected services constitute a comprehensive multimedia
system. Renowned for the quality of its graphics and ergonomics, R-LINK Evolution takes the form of a
customisable integrated tablet complete with a seven-inch capacitive screen allowing users to enlarge, reduce
or move images with just a touch of their fingers as they would with a smartphone.
R-LINK Evolution incorporates:
– TomTom® navigation, including real-time traffic information (TomTom® Live services) and road safety warnings
(Coyote Series), with a year’s free subscription (depending on market),
– Bluetooth and 3G functions,
– DAB radio (depending on market),
– voice recognition,
– photo playback and video streaming (when the vehicle is stationary),
– Renault R-LINK Store, providing access to a wide and varied catalogue of applications,
– management of the new driver aids (depending on version).
Features that both simplify
and enhance the driving experience
Even more agile
Since the very first generation of the model, the CLIO’s reputation has been founded on its ability to cope with
city motoring and driving on long distance with equal ease. Thanks to its driving aids, New CLIO marks another
step forward again in terms of agility and versatility.
It comes with sensors fitted all around the vehicle, making the car particularly manoeuvrable, even in the
trickiest driving and parking situations.
In addition to its rear parking sensor, and depending on the version, New CLIO offers a front parking sensor
and a rear view camera to simplify manoeuvres and help to avoid the bumps and scrapes that are a daily risk
of driving in an urban environment.
The introduction of the Easy Park Assist system on higher-end versions makes parking manoeuvre easier.
The driver begins by indicating what type of parking they are looking for, be it parallel, perpendicular or diagonal.
When the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 30kph, this system detects all available spaces that are big
enough to accommodate New CLIO. Once a suitable space has been identified, the system calculates and coordinates
the vehicle’s steering, meaning the driver does not need to touch the wheel and can focus solely on
acceleration, braking and gear changes.
Greater comfort and amenities
To make New CLIO’s in-car experience even more enjoyable and hassle-free, a variety of enhancements are
available depending on the version:
– the LED front headlights offer greater visibility and visual comfort, which in turn improves safety,
– the door mirrors now fold in automatically when the doors are locked from the outside,
– the vanity mirrors are illuminated,
– the auto-dimming electro-chrome rear-view mirror, which prevents headlight glare when driving at night.
The added bonus of Bose® audio system
Renault and Bose® have been partners since 2008 and, following in the footsteps of the Koleos, Mégane, Scénic,
Laguna, Latitude, Espace, Kadjar and Talisman, New CLIO is the first B-segment Renault model to benefit
from Bose® expertise in the design and development of its audio system.
The incomparable experience of listening to Bose® sound transforms New CLIO’s cabin into a veritable concert
hall, producing authentic, clear and realistic music worthy of a live performance.
This audio experience is achieved via a system whose development has been specifically tailored to New
CLIO, with no fewer than seven high-performance loudspeakers:
– two in the front, incorporated into the dashboard,
– two in the front door panels,
– two in the rear door panels,
– a subwoofer featuring exclusive Bose® waveguide for a rich bass sound, located in the boot.

New CLIO R.S.:

The best of technologies designed by Renault Sport
for immediate driving pleasure
The Renault Sport range provides a bridge between the world of motorsport and road cars. The CLIO
R.S. boasts exceptional performance thanks to its 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and six-speed dual
clutch transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts. It also innovates with an unprecedented
equipment package in its segment, including Launch Control, the R.S. Drive system, which enables a
choice of three driving modes (Normal, Sport and Race), the R.S. Monitor application and hydraulic
compression bump stops developed by Renault Sport for rallying.
New CLIO R.S. 200 EDC and CLIO R.S. Trophy incorporate all of the advances offered by New CLIO and further
enhance that package by drawing upon Renault Sport’s knowledge and expertise. They also carry over some exterior
styling features seen on the CLIO R.S. 16 concept car, which was revealed at the Monaco Grand Prix.
R.S. VISION: a world first for the additional
multi-reflector LED technology lighting
The front end of New CLIO R.S. is visually broader by virtue of a specific front bumper, and its distinctive look is
completed by LED multi-reflector lighting in the form of a chequered flag called R.S. VISION. This exclusive
technology, initially seen on the CLIO R.S. 16 concept car, co-ordinates the vehicle’s fog lights, cornering lights,
side lights and dipped and main beams to enhance night-time visibility.
New CLIO R.S. also offers new 18-inch wheels and specific sills. At the rear can be found a sporty spoiler, a
functional diffuser and a twin exhaust tail pipe, while the rear lights carry over the C-shaped lighting signature.
The Renault Sport (R.S.) logo appears underneath the Renault badge at the front of the car, on the wheels and
at the rear.

a unique package in its segment
New CLIO R.S. is available with a choice of two petrol engines (200hp or 220hp for the Trophy version),
mated to a six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It is also the only car in its class to offer three different types of chassis, giving customers the opportunity to
‘tailor-build’ their own CLIO R.S. The options are a Sport chassis with 17- or 18-inch wheels, which places the
emphasis on versatility and everyday use; a strengthened Cup chassis with 18-inch wheels, providing the
perfect blend of road and circuit driving characteristics; or a Trophy chassis with 18-inch wheels, lowered by
20mm at the front and 10mm at the rear to place the focus firmly on driving pleasure.
Uniquely in its segment, New CLIO R.S. Trophy can be specified with an exclusive exhaust system inspired by
the CLIO R.S 16 concept car and developed with industry specialist Akrapovič which imbues the engine
with an instantly recognisable sound and ensures sprightly acceleration.
The 200hp powerplant is available with the Sport and Cup chassis, while the 220hp unit can be selected for the
Trophy variants.
The 220hp Trophy version is capable of out-performing all other sporty vehicles in its class, taking just 6.6
seconds to sprint from 0-100kph, 14.5 seconds to cover 400m from a standing start and going on to reach a top
speed of 235kph.

4CONTROL: a new level of driving enjoyment and a first in the C segment
The new MEGANE Estate GT is the first estate car in its segment to benefit from 4CONTROL
technology.
A Renault-inspired innovation, the 4CONTROL chassis acts on the steering of the rear wheels.Configured by Renault Sport’s engineers specifically for the new MEGANE Estate GT, this technology
generates a sporty,
dynamic and precise cornering feel. The car’s handling feels sharper and morereassuring and inspires genuine driving pleasure, whatever mode has been selected. In emergency
situations, the instant response of the four-wheel steering is quick to put the driver at ease. Moreover, this
system provides a high degree of cornering stability at high speeds and easy manoeuvrability at low speeds,
and, for an estate,
the new MEGANE Estate GT is remarkably agile in built-up areas. To ensure optimal
stability, the 4CONTROL system calculates and adjusts the steering angle of the rear wheels 100 times every
second.

The new Mégane GT offers a choice of four driving settings (Sport, Neutral, Comfort and Perso) calibrated to meet
the needs of different drivers at different moments.
With 4CONTROL, at speeds of less than 80kph in the Sport mode and less than 60kph in the other modes,
the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to those at the front. This endows the car with the precise and dynamic
handling characteristics of a shorter-wheelbase vehicle.
In excess of these speed thresholds, the rear wheels
turn in the same direction as those
at the front, making the car feel as if it were a longer-wheelbase vehicle from the
next segment up and imbuing it with a sense of reassuring stability when cornering.

The Sport mode brings out the best in the sporty qualities of the new MEGANE Estate GT, with the R.S. Drive
button
serving as an instant shortcut. In the Sport mode, the 4CONTROL technology truly comes into its own in
terms of response. The
steering wheel needs to be turned 40% less (a 5% difference compared to the other
modes) compared to an identical car without 4CONTROL, which favours a dynamic, surefooted ride on twisty roads.
The Sport mode adjusts the calibration of the
steering, the accelerator pedal mapping and the engine/transmission
mapping. The
Neutral mode is the default selection when the vehicle starts up and offers the optimum balance
between sportiness and comfort for everyday use.

The Comfort mode optimises fuel consumption by switching certain functions to an economy setting.

The
Perso mode can be configured by the driver, enabling them to adapt the vehicle to suit their mood of the
moment.

The new MEGANE Estate GT’s suspension system is completed by specific settings in Renault Sport’s traditional
areas of expertise, whilst at the same time preserving the vehicle’s
comfort and versatility.

The new MEGANE Estate GT is also fitted with specific
new springs, dampers, anti-roll bars and steering. The
springs and dampers provide
better vertical ride comfort, thereby contributing to the all-round ability of a vehicle
that is intended for everyday use, while at the same time providing a distinctive sporty feel.

The diameter of the brake discs is 30mm wider than those on the new MEGANE Estate (320mm at the
front/290mm at the rear) which translates into
enhanced stopping power.

Two engines developed by Renault Sport: Energy TCe 205 EDC and Energy dCi 165
EDC

The Energy TCe 205 EDC with seven-speed EDC transmission: 205hp and 280Nm of torque from 2,400rpm.

This 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol unit developed for the GT version by Renault Sport ensures brisk acceleration
and pick-up. Yet the level of driving enjoyment and performance it delivers remains compatible with low CO
2emissions (134g/km) and fuel consumption (6 litres/100km).

The Energy dCi 165 with six-speed EDC transmission: 165hp and 380Nm of torque from 1,750rpm.

Due out before the end of the year
, this diesel engine will round out the new MEGANE Estate GT’s engineline-up. This diesel unit benefits from Renault’s Twin-Turbo technology. The first, low-inertia turbo produces
immediate pick-up at low revs. The second turbo delivers sprightly response and dynamic mid-range
acceleration across a broad rev-band. This engine delivers power, sporty driving enjoyment and low fuel
consumption.

Launch Control and Multi-Change Down: two Renault Sport-inspired technologies

In the Sport mode, the new MEGANE Estate GT benefits from a raft of specific technologies developed by
Renault Sport engineers. Launch Control with the Energy TCe 205 EDC unit allows for considerably faster

acceleration from a standing start, whilst Multi-Change Down with the Energy TCe 205 EDC and Energy dCi
165 EDC units
significantly speeds up downshifting more than one gear at a time.

Perfect getaways courtesy of Launch ControlThe Launch Control system is inspired by the automatic starting systems employed by Renault cars on motor racingstarting grids. With ‘Launch Control’, the new MEGANE Estate GT is capable of fully managing standing starts. Thesystem’s sophisticated electronics ensure that it works as quickly as possible and in complete safety. This
means that the new MEGANE Es
tate GT is able to pull away from the starting line more cleanly and efficiently,
sprinting from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in just 7.4 seconds.

The system
is simple to operate: with the driver’s left foot on the brake pedal, Launch Control is activated bysimultaneously pulling and holding the two steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles, with confirmation provided bya ‘Launch Control On’ message displayed on the dashboard. With the driver’s right foot pressed down on theaccelerator pedal, the car pulls away as soon as the brake pedal is released.

In order to guard against mechanical damage, Launch Control is always under
electronic surveillance, which has
the ability to temporarily suspend its activation.

Faster downshifting with Multi-Change Down

After selecting the manual mode of the EDC transmission, Multi-Change Down enables the driver to downshiftseveral gears in quick succession while braking, through a simple activation of the paddle to the left of the steering
wheel. This means the car will be in the best gear to tackle the following corner.

New Alfa Romeo Giulietta

  • Family feeling with Giulia: shared appearance and line-up logic.
  • Even sportier: specific new exterior details and the new Veloce pack available on all petrol and diesel engine versions.
  • Making its debut is the new 1.6 JTDm 120 HP turbo diesel with Alfa TCT.
  • Always connected with the new Uconnect system LIVE services.
  • Rational line-up: three trim levels (Giulietta, Giulietta Super and Giulietta Veloce), two new packs (Veloce and Lusso), nine engine versions, eleven body colours and twelve different 16" and 18" alloy rims with three exclusive designs.

To keep on playing a leading role in the segment, Alfa Romeo Giulietta has been refreshed with a bolder sport characterisation, new specific elements and an unmistakable family feeling shared with the fascinating Giulia, which is the new Alfa Romeo paradigm and ultimate expression of the meccanica delle emozioni - or mechanics of emotions - concept.

New Giulietta comes with important innovations, like the new 1.6 JTDm 120 HP turbo diesel engine paired with the Alfa TCT and the extremely useful Live services on the Uconnect system available on the entire range. In addition, the line-up has been rationalised and now features three trim levels (Giulietta, Giulietta Super and Giulietta Veloce), two packs (Veloce and Lusso) and nine engine versions (petrol, diesel and LPG) so customers can more simply and quickly pick the version most suited to their inclinations and needs and then customise it with optional equipment and accessories.

Ready to face future challenges, New Giulietta embodies the unrivalled "Alfa Spirit", which for over one century has typified the cars made by Alfa Romeo. They are light and efficient - resulting from the choice of materials and the correct weight-to-power ratio - and are the perfect expression of the care for detail typical of only the very best Italian designs. Additionally, they are agile on the road with responsive steering, evolved suspensions and balanced weight distribution.

Finally, New Giulietta fits a host of features developed by Magneti Marelli - from lighting devices to powertrain, suspensions and exhaust systems - as further confirmation of the consolidated and mutually profitable collaboration between Alfa Romeo and the well-known international leader in the design and manufacturing of high-tech automotive systems and components.

Refreshed looks and sportier characterisation
Today, the family feeling of New Giulietta with Giulia, which is the new Alfa Romeo paradigm, is enhanced and embodied by several exterior style elements, such as the one-of-a-kind honeycomb grille and the new front bumper which recalls the shape of the legendary front trefoil, arguably one of the most famous and recognisable symbols in the automotive world. Similarly, the lettering of the name "Giulietta" and its position on the back wink to those of Giulia. The new model also sports the refreshed logo, which has been modernised preserving the distinctive style elements which have made it an emblem known and cherished worldwide. Not by chance, only who has a great past can face the challenges of the future.

Burnished headlights, new bumper inserts, one-of-a-kind alloy rims and new oblique tailpipes complete the new look. The Giulietta Veloce trim level - the sportiest of the line-up - is even bolder featuring new sports bumpers with Alfa Red profiles, new carbon look treatment headlights, glossy anthracite accents on mirror caps, handles and on the grille and fog light surrounds.

The exclusive sporty outfit corresponds to an exclusive interior ambience packed with premium quality accents in which all details are carefully picked: New Giulietta is the most developed expression of Italian style. On the inside, the sportiest Giulietta Veloce trim level has new leather and Alcantara sports seats with integrated head restraints embellished with contrasting red stitching and "Alfa Romeo" written on the head restraints. Standard are also the contoured leather steering wheel with contrasting red stitching and the carbon look finish dashboard surround and door panels, all complemented by specific matte grey inserts.

The sports characterisation is equally strong on the Giulietta and Giulietta Super versions. The first has grey and black fabric seats, a one-of-a-kind matte black dashboard, leather steering wheel and new black inserts on the tunnel and door pulls. Even bolder is the Super trim level with new Alfa Romeo trademark grey and black fabric "cannelloni" seats. Premium leather seats are available on both trim levels on demand.

New 1.6 JTDm 120 HP TCT engine
The 1.6 JTDm 120 HP debuting on New Giulietta is paired with Alfa TCT to combine the well-known, typical advantages of a turbo diesel engine with the comfort that only an automatic transmission can offer and the responsive shifting of a twin clutch, for top efficiency and driving pleasure.
Equipped in this way, the new car delivers excellent performance - top speed of 195 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 10.2 seconds - while being fuel-efficient and environment-friendly at the same time: 3.8 l/100 km and just 99 g/km of CO2 on the combined cycle with the ECO version.

New addition to the second-generation MultiJet turbo diesel family, the 1.6 litre engine of New Giulietta delivers a top power of 120 HP at 3750 rpm and fits a small-size turbocharger capable of expressing top-in-class torque (320 Nm at 1750 rpm) for the best flexibility. A peculiarity of the 1.6 JTDm is certainly the third-generation Common Rail injection system which uses innovative injectors and balanced hydraulic servo valves to control very accurately the amount of fuel injected into the combustion chamber in a particularly quick and flexible injection sequence.

The Alfa TCT, now also with 1.6 JTDm 120 HP engine, can work in fully automatic or sequential mode. The up and down positions of the accurate and ergonomic gear stick are controlled manually by the driver. Shift paddles on the steering wheel can be chosen as an alternative. The Alfa DNA selector can also be used to select the dynamic performance of the car by operating on engine torque, brakes using the Pre-Fill function, TCT shifting logics, accelerator response, ESC control system, the Alfa Q2 electronic self-locking differential and the ASR traction control. The driver can activate three driving modes according to road conditions and driving style.

In brief, the engine line-up of New Giulietta now features four turbo petrol engines (1.4 Turbo Petrol 120 HP, 1.4 Turbo Multiair 150 HP, 1.4 Turbo Multiair 170 HP TCT and 1750 Turbo Petrol 240 HP TCT) and four turbo diesel engines: 1.6 JTDm 120 HP with manual transmission or TCT, 2.0 JTDm 150 HP and 2.0 JTDm 175 HP TCT. Finally, there is the bi-fuel (LPG and petrol) 1.4 TB 120 HP.

Uconnect system with the new LIVE services
The innovative Uconnect with 5" or 6.5" touchscreen is set proudly in the middle of the dashboard of New Giulietta. The multimedia device has Bluetooth connection for hands-free phone use and audio streaming, Aux-in connector, USB port, voice controls, SMS Reader and DAB device for listening to the radio with digital quality. Both the 6.5" and the 5" Uconnect systems are developed in collaboration with partners of excellence, such as Harman and Here Auto (the first) and Continental (the latter). Debuting on New Giulietta are the new UconnectTM LIVE services for staying connected while driving using a smartphone.

By downloading the free app from App Store of Google Play Store to a smartphone, Uconnect LIVE offers music streaming with Deezer and TuneIn, news with Reuters, connected navigation with TomTom LIVE and the opportunity to keep in touch with friends on Facebook Check-In and Twitter. Savings, eco-friendliness and control are also guaranteed everywhere with eco:Drive and my:Car.

Also debuting on New Giulietta is Alfa Performance, the exclusive service specifically created to enhance the driving experience. Using an array of digital gauges and instruments, drivers can control the main parameters of the car, measure their performance using special timers and see driving statistics on their smartphone, in addition to receiving real-time driving tips. The service is available on Uconnect 6.5" Radio Nav LIVE".

Other features on the 6.5" Uconnect LIVE include satellite navigation function with 3D bird's-eye view maps, sequential route instructions and One Step Voice Entry Destination.

Complete, rational line-up for easy choices
In Europe, the New Giulietta line-up features three trim levels (Giulietta, Giulietta Super and Giulietta Veloce), two new packs (Veloce and Lusso) and nine engine versions, including the new 1.6 JTDm 120 HP TCT turbo diesel, which will be particularly appreciated by business customers. The palette to choose from includes eleven body colours, comprising the new Alfa White and Lipari Grey, twelve different alloy rims (each size with one new pattern) and two more packs (Comfort and Visibility) to satisfy all customer needs.

The entry level Giulietta has a new front - with a new honeycomb grille and new bumper inserts - embellished by headlights with burnished treatment, satin handles and new oblique tailpipes. Inside, the new grey and black fabric seats with Alfa Romeo logo on the head restraints, new matte black dashboard insert with matte black finish and velvet mats. The refreshed style elements are accompanied by comprehensive standard equipment which includes leather steering wheel, climate control, 5" Uconnect with Uconnect Live services, Alfa DNA selector (with Q2 electronic differential and DST), innovative ESC (with ASR and Hill Holder), six airbags and front and rear electric windows. Giulietta customers can pick from the following engine line-up: 1.4 Turbo Petrol 120 HP, 1.4 Turbo Petrol 150 HP, 1.4 Turbo Petrol 170 HP TCT, 1.6 JTDm 120 HP with manual gearbox or TCT, 2.0 JTDm 150 HP and bi-fuel (LPG and petrol) 1.4 TB 120 HP.

Available on all engine versions (except for the 1750 Turbo Petrol 240 HP TCT), the Giulietta Super trim level adds an array of very interesting features to the entry level, such as two-zone automatic climate control, cruise control and front armrest. From the appearance point of view, it comes with 16" alloy rims, fog lights, chrome-plated details and the one-of-a-kind grey and black fabric seats with the Alfa Romeo logo on the head restraints. They can also choose to customise their New Giulietta Super further by picking the Lusso or Veloce packs to enhance the elegant or sports attitude of the car. The Lusso pack includes height-adjustable leather seats, front and rear armrests, aluminium kick plate and 6.5" Uconnect Radio Nav. The Veloce pack, instead, includes all the aesthetic contents of the Giulietta Veloce described below.

Giulietta Veloce - the best expression of the sports character of New Giulietta - completes the line-up and is packed with standard equipment and specific elements for an even bolder look and technical-racing features for a no-compromise stance on the road. These include sports suspensions with specific set-up, side skirts, sports bumpers with exclusive red Alfa profile, 17'' alloy rims, oversized Brembo brake system with red callipers and four master cylinders and oversized tailpipes. Other interesting features include the exclusive "Veloce" badge, tinted windows, headlights with carbon look treatment, glossy anthracite finish on mirror caps, handles, grille and fog light surrounds. On the inside, the sports vocation of the New Giulietta Veloce is reasserted by new leather and Alcantara seats with contrasting stitching and by the words "Alfa Romeo" written across the integrated head restraints, the aluminium pedals, the matte grey moulding, the contoured sports steering wheel with red stitching and the carbon look effect dashboard surrounds and door panels. As can be expected, this high-performance version of New Giulietta comes exclusively with the powerful 1750 Turbo Petrol with direct injection and aluminium crankcase which delivers 240 HP at 5750 rpm.

FCA takes part in the 100th edition of the legendary "Targa Florio"

The Targa Florio was an open road endurance automobile race held in the mountains of Sicily near Palermo. Founded in 1906, it was the oldest sports car racing event, part of the World Sportscar Championship between 1955 and 1973. While the first races consisted of a whole tour of the island, the track length in the race's last decades was limited to the 72 kilometres (45 mi) of the Circuito Piccolo delle Madonie, which was lapped 11 times.

After 1973, it was a national sports car event until it was discontinued in 1977 due to safety concerns. It has since been run as a rallying event, and is part of the Italian Rally Championship.
The race was created in 1906 by the wealthy pioneer race driver and automobile enthusiast, Vincenzo Florio, who had started theCoppa Florio race in Brescia, Lombardy in 1900.
One of the toughest competitions in Europe, the first Targa Florio covered 3 laps equalling 277 miles (446 km) through multiple hairpin curves on treacherous mountain roads, at heights where severe changes in climate frequently occurred. Alessandro Cagno won the inaugural 1906 race in nine hours, averaging 30 miles per hour (50 km/h).
By the mid-1920s, the Targa Florio had become one of Europe's most important races, as neither the 24 Hours of Le Mans nor the Mille Miglia had been established yet. Grand Prix races were still isolated events, not a series like today's F1.
The wins of Mercedes (not yet merged with Benz) in the 1920s made a big impression in Germany, especially that of German Christian Werner in 1924, as he was the first non-Italian winner since 1920. Rudolf Caracciola repeated a similar upset win at the Mille Miglia a couple of years later. In 1926, Eliska Junkova, one of the great female drivers in Grand Prix motor racing history, became the first woman to ever compete in the race.
In 1953, the FIA World Sportscar Championship was introduced. The Targa became part of it in 1955, when Mercedes had to win 1-2 with the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR in order to beat Ferrari for the title. They had missed the first two of the 6 events, Buenos Aires and the 12 Hours of Sebring, where Ferrari, Jaguar, Maserati and Porsche scored. Mercedes appeared at and won in the Mille Miglia, then pulled out of Le Mans as a sign of respect for the victims of the 1955 Le Mans disaster, but won the Tourist Trophy at Dundrod. Stirling Moss/Peter Collins and Juan Manuel Fangio/Karl Kling finished minutes ahead of the best Ferrari and secured the title.
Several versions of the track were used. It started with a single lap of a 148 km (92 mi) circuit from 1906-1911 and 1931. From 1912 to 1914 a tour around the perimeter of Sicily was used, with a single lap of 975 kilometres (606 mi), lengthened to 1,080 kilometres (670 mi) from 1948 to 1950. The 148 km "Grande" circuit was then shortened twice, the first time to 108 km (67 mi), the version used from 1919-1930, and then to the 72 km (45 mi) circuit used from 1932 to 1936 and 1951 to 1977. From 1951-1958, the long coastal island tour variant was used for a separate event called the Giro di Sicilia (Lap of Sicily).
The start and finish took place at Cerda. The counter-clockwise lap lead from Caltavuturo and Collesano from an altitude over 600 metres (1,970 ft) down to sea level, where the cars raced from Campofelice di Roccella on the Buonfornello straight along the coast, a straight over 6 km (3.7 mi) longer than the Mulsanne Straight at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans. The longest version of the circuit went south through Caltavuturo (whereas the shortest version of the open-road circuit went east just before entry into Caltavuturo, through a mountainous section directly to Collesano) through an extended route through elevation changes, and swept through the nearby towns of Castellana and Sottana, twisting around mountains up to the town of Castelbuono and rejoined the most recent version of the track at Collesano. The second version of the track also went south through Caltavuturo and took a shortcut starting right before Castellana to Collesano via the town of Polizzi Generosa. There was a closed circuit called Favorita Park used from 1937-1940.
The challenge of the Targa was unprecedented in its difficulty and the driving experience of any of the course variants was unlike any other circuit in the world other than perhaps that of the Nurburgring in Germany. The original Grande 148 km (92 mi) circuit had in the realm of 2,000 corners per lap, the 108 km (67 mi) Medio had about 1,300-1,400 corners per lap and the final iteration of the course, the 72 km (45 mi) Piccolo circuit had about 800-900 corners per lap. To put that in perspective, most purpose built circuits have between 12 and 18 corners, and the longest purpose built circuit in the world, the 13-mile Nurburgring, has about 180 corners. So learning any of the Targa Florio courses was extremely difficult and required, like most long circuits, at least 60 laps to learn the course- and unlike the purpose-built Nurburgring, the course had to be learned properly in public traffic, and one lap would take about an hour to do in a road car- if there was little to no traffic.
Lap speeds
Like a rally event (and the Isle of Man TT), the race cars were started one by one every 15 seconds for a time trial, as a start from a full grid was not possible on the tight and twisty roads.
Although the public road circuit used for the Targa was extremely challenging- it was a very different kind of circuit and race from any other race on the sportscar calendar. All of the circuit variations of the Targa had so many corners that lap speeds at the Targa never went higher than 80 mph (128 km/h). Helmut Marko set the lap record in 1972 in an Alfa Romeo 33TT3 at 33 min 41 s at an average of 128.253 km/h (79.693 mph) during an epic charge where he made up 2 minutes on Arturo Merzario and his Ferrari 312PB. The fastest ever was Leo Kinnunen in 1970, lapping in the Porsche 908/3 at 128.571 km/h (79.890 mph) or 33 min 36 seconds flat.
Due to the track's length, drivers practised in the week before the race in public traffic, often with their race cars fitted with license plates. Porsche factory drivers even had to watch onboard videos, a sickening experience for some. The lap record for the 146 km "Grande" circuit was 2 hours 3 min 54.8 seconds set by Achille Varzi in a Bugatti Type 51 at the 1931 race at an average speed of 70.7 km/h (43.931 mph). The lap record for the 108 km "Medio" circuit was 1 hour 21 min 21.6 seconds set by Varzi in an Alfa Romeo P2 at an average speed of 79.642 km/h (49.487 mph) at the 1930 race. The fastest completion around the short version of the island tour was done by Giovanni "Ernesto" Ceirano in a SCAT at the 1914 race, completed in 16 hours, 51 minutes and 31.6 seconds from May 24–25, 1914. The fastest completion of the long version of the island tour was by Mario and Franco Bornigia in an Alfa Romeo 8C 2500, completed in 12 hours, 26 minutes and 33 seconds flat at the 1950 race at an average speed of 86.794 km/h (53.931 mph).
1970s, Safety and demise
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, race cars with up to 600 hp (450 kW) such as Nino Vaccarella's Ferrari 512S raced through small mountain villages while spectators sat or stood right next to, or even on, the road. Porsche, on the other hand, did not race its big Porsche 917, but rather the nimble Porsche 908/03 Spyders.
Due to safety concerns, especially by Helmut Marko, who called the race "totally insane", the last Targa Florio as a World Sportscar Championship race was run in 1973; where during this event it became impossible to retain its international status after a number of horrendous and 2 fatal accidents at the event; one which privateer Charles Blyth crashed his Lancia Fulvia HF into a trailer at the end of the Buonfornello straight and was killed; and another where an Italian driver crashed his Alpine-Renault into a group of spectators, killing one. There were several other accidents during practice for the 1973 event in which a total of seven spectators sustained injuries. In that year, even a Porsche 911 won as the prototypes such as Jacky Ickx's Ferrari suffered crashes or other troubles. Another reason for the Targa's international demise was because international automotive governing body, the FIA, mandated safety walls on all circuits that were going to hold FIA-mandated events; and the 44-mile length of combined public roads made this simply impossible and totally impractical, especially from a financial standpoint. The Targa was continued as a national event for some years, before a crash in 1977 which killed 2 spectators and seriously injured 5 others (including the driver) sealed its fate. The 1977 race was forcibly taken over by local police and was stopped on the 4th lap, and it also saw 2 other drivers having serious accidents; one of them was critically injured, but survived.
Although the Targa Florio was a rally-type race that took place on closed-off Sicilian public mountain roads with (aside from straw bales and weak guardrails at some of the turns, the latter were installed by the island's government) practically no safety features, only 9 people- including spectators- died at the event over the 71 year and 61 race history using a total of 6 circuit configurations. This amount is relatively small compared to other open road races, like the Mille Miglia, where over a period of 30 years and 24 races, 56 people lost their lives and the Carrera Panamericana, where over a period of 5 years and 5 races, 25 people were killed. This is probably due to the fact that the mountain roads were extremely twisty and average speeds never reached even 80 mph even up to the final years of the race's history, even with the very long straight at the northernmost of the track.
