New Renault CLIO design: interior and exterior

Updated style down to the tiniest of details
More character and personality in exterior design
A new lighting signature
New CLIO stands apart from the competition thanks to its full-LED front lighting signature (depending on
version) in-line with that of Renault’s other recent models.
At the front, full LED “Pure Vision” headlights fulfil the dual function of dipped and main beam. This technology
enhances the vehicle’s appearance as well as safety by emitting a light that is 20 percent more powerful than
a halogen beam whilst at the same time reducing glare. On higher-end versions, New CLIO’s headlamps
additionally incorporate C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), emblematic of the brand’s new lighting
signature. The permanent rear LED lights mirror this look by similarly adopting a C-shaped design (depending
on version, hatchback body type only). In its entry-level and mid-range versions, New CLIO benefits from LED
Daytime Running Lights and a chrome trim along the bottom of the grille.
The most stylish CLIO yet
At the front, the top grille that houses the logo has been redesigned, as has the lower grille which is now
visibly broader and more modern. At the rear, the skirt has been redesigned for additional robustness.
Meanwhile, four new colours have been added to the existing selection (Intense Red, Titanium Grey, Pearly
White and Iron Blue), along with new wheel and wheel trim designs.
Inside, New CLIO keeps all of its promises
Visually pleasing, quality materials
The New CLIO benefits from the introduction of materials more usually employed by Renault’s top-of-therange
models. The texture of its plastics is of a higher visual and tactile quality, its chrome is subtler, with less
gleam, and the colours inside the cabin are more refined. In short, the New CLIO is an altogether more grown-up
proposition, with its seductive style on the outside perfectly complemented by the sophistication within.
A series of upgrades driven by attention-to-detail and refinement
The steering wheel has been redesigned, with the discarding of some of its plastic components giving it a
more upmarket feel in keeping with the rest of New CLIO’s cabin. In higher-end versions, it is trimmed with fullgrain
leather. The gear lever, as well as the door panels, have been redesigned for a greater impression of
quality. Now in a single housing, the armrests are more aesthetically pleasing thanks to a new grained finish.
They also incorporate new controls. The central air vents sport a new look, too. The LED interior lighting produces
a pleasant glow. The seat fabrics are of a higher quality across the board and, in higher grades, the design
of the seats is more enveloping for superior lateral support.
A new customisation programme
Thanks to its new customisation programme, New CLIO can be purchased in more than 30 different colour
combinations. Customers are invited to choose from:
– five roof decals (graded design or single colour) and painted door mirrors for a two-tone effect,
– four exterior customisation packs: front grill bars and side protective mouldings.
All decals are factory-fitted, guaranteeing an impeccable finish.
New CLIO offers two new interior ambiences, namely Florida Red, Smoky Grey. The colours selected for the
dashboard are no longer dictated by those of the seat fabrics, allowing the customer greater freedom when it
comes to customisation.

New equipment that provides agility and connectivity
For more than 25 years, the Renault CLIO has consistently changed the game in terms of the equipment it has
offered, while at the same time revolutionising the versatile small city car market by incorporating technologies
hitherto reserved for vehicles from higher segments. New CLIO remains faithful to those roots by proposing
three different multimedia systems, plus other features that simplify the driving experience. Last but not least,
the opportunity to add Bose® sound quality for the first time on a Renault B-segment model provides access to
premium acoustics.
An increasingly connected car,
right from the entry level version
The R&Go® system now available on entry level version
New CLIO is firmly in tune with the times courtesy of R&Go®, a simple yet ingenious system that instantly
connects the vehicle with its user’s smartphone. With their smartphone placed in the universal cradle, and
thanks to a special application, users can easily and intuitively access the car’s most frequently employed
functions which have been separated into four different areas: Navigation, Phone, Multimedia and Vehicle.
Media Nav Evolution: exceptional value for money
Mid-range versions of New CLIO come with Media Nav Evolution, a comprehensive multimedia system that
offers the best benefit-cost ratio on the market, as evidenced by the wealth of features it incorporates.
Media Nav Evolution incorporates a dashboard-mounted 7-inch touch screen display and offers features such
as navigation with traffic information, Bluetooth connectivity to enable use of the telephone and listening to
music streamed from a smartphone, as well as rear view camera display and the Driving Eco2 function, which
provides drivers with information about the way they drive and tips on how to improve their fuel economy.
Renault R-LINK Evolution: the last word in on-board connectivity
Renault R-LINK Evolution and its suite of connected services constitute a comprehensive multimedia
system. Renowned for the quality of its graphics and ergonomics, R-LINK Evolution takes the form of a
customisable integrated tablet complete with a seven-inch capacitive screen allowing users to enlarge, reduce
or move images with just a touch of their fingers as they would with a smartphone.
R-LINK Evolution incorporates:
– TomTom® navigation, including real-time traffic information (TomTom® Live services) and road safety warnings
(Coyote Series), with a year’s free subscription (depending on market),
– Bluetooth and 3G functions,
– DAB radio (depending on market),
– voice recognition,
– photo playback and video streaming (when the vehicle is stationary),
– Renault R-LINK Store, providing access to a wide and varied catalogue of applications,
– management of the new driver aids (depending on version).
Features that both simplify
and enhance the driving experience
Even more agile
Since the very first generation of the model, the CLIO’s reputation has been founded on its ability to cope with
city motoring and driving on long distance with equal ease. Thanks to its driving aids, New CLIO marks another
step forward again in terms of agility and versatility.
It comes with sensors fitted all around the vehicle, making the car particularly manoeuvrable, even in the
trickiest driving and parking situations.
In addition to its rear parking sensor, and depending on the version, New CLIO offers a front parking sensor
and a rear view camera to simplify manoeuvres and help to avoid the bumps and scrapes that are a daily risk
of driving in an urban environment.
The introduction of the Easy Park Assist system on higher-end versions makes parking manoeuvre easier.
The driver begins by indicating what type of parking they are looking for, be it parallel, perpendicular or diagonal.
When the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 30kph, this system detects all available spaces that are big
enough to accommodate New CLIO. Once a suitable space has been identified, the system calculates and coordinates
the vehicle’s steering, meaning the driver does not need to touch the wheel and can focus solely on
acceleration, braking and gear changes.
Greater comfort and amenities
To make New CLIO’s in-car experience even more enjoyable and hassle-free, a variety of enhancements are
available depending on the version:
– the LED front headlights offer greater visibility and visual comfort, which in turn improves safety,
– the door mirrors now fold in automatically when the doors are locked from the outside,
– the vanity mirrors are illuminated,
– the auto-dimming electro-chrome rear-view mirror, which prevents headlight glare when driving at night.
The added bonus of Bose® audio system
Renault and Bose® have been partners since 2008 and, following in the footsteps of the Koleos, Mégane, Scénic,
Laguna, Latitude, Espace, Kadjar and Talisman, New CLIO is the first B-segment Renault model to benefit
from Bose® expertise in the design and development of its audio system.
The incomparable experience of listening to Bose® sound transforms New CLIO’s cabin into a veritable concert
hall, producing authentic, clear and realistic music worthy of a live performance.
This audio experience is achieved via a system whose development has been specifically tailored to New
CLIO, with no fewer than seven high-performance loudspeakers:
– two in the front, incorporated into the dashboard,
– two in the front door panels,
– two in the rear door panels,
– a subwoofer featuring exclusive Bose® waveguide for a rich bass sound, located in the boot.

New CLIO R.S. 200 EDC and CLIO R.S. Trophy incorporate all of the advances offered by New CLIO and further
enhance that package by drawing upon Renault Sport’s knowledge and expertise. They also carry over some exterior
styling features seen on the CLIO R.S. 16 concept car, which was revealed at the Monaco Grand Prix.
R.S. VISION: a world first for the additional
multi-reflector LED technology lighting
The front end of New CLIO R.S. is visually broader by virtue of a specific front bumper, and its distinctive look is
completed by LED multi-reflector lighting in the form of a chequered flag called R.S. VISION. This exclusive
technology, initially seen on the CLIO R.S. 16 concept car, co-ordinates the vehicle’s fog lights, cornering lights,
side lights and dipped and main beams to enhance night-time visibility.
New CLIO R.S. also offers new 18-inch wheels and specific sills. At the rear can be found a sporty spoiler, a
functional diffuser and a twin exhaust tail pipe, while the rear lights carry over the C-shaped lighting signature.

  • aluminium pedal caps and bespoke gear lever are designed to suit sportier driving styles – as are the
  • steering wheel gearshift paddles.

4CONTROL: a new level of driving enjoyment and a first in the C segment
The new MEGANE Estate GT is the first estate car in its segment to benefit from 4CONTROL
technology.
A Renault-inspired innovation, the 4CONTROL chassis acts on the steering of the rear wheels.Configured by Renault Sport’s engineers specifically for the new MEGANE Estate GT, this technology
generates a sporty,
dynamic and precise cornering feel. The car’s handling feels sharper and morereassuring and inspires genuine driving pleasure, whatever mode has been selected. In emergency
situations, the instant response of the four-wheel steering is quick to put the driver at ease. Moreover, this
system provides a high degree of cornering stability at high speeds and easy manoeuvrability at low speeds,
and, for an estate,
the new MEGANE Estate GT is remarkably agile in built-up areas. To ensure optimal
stability, the 4CONTROL system calculates and adjusts the steering angle of the rear wheels 100 times every
second.

The new Mégane GT offers a choice of four driving settings (Sport, Neutral, Comfort and Perso) calibrated to meet
the needs of different drivers at different moments.
With 4CONTROL, at speeds of less than 80kph in the Sport mode and less than 60kph in the other modes,
the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to those at the front. This endows the car with the precise and dynamic
handling characteristics of a shorter-wheelbase vehicle.
In excess of these speed thresholds, the rear wheels
turn in the same direction as those
at the front, making the car feel as if it were a longer-wheelbase vehicle from the
next segment up and imbuing it with a sense of reassuring stability when cornering.

The Sport mode brings out the best in the sporty qualities of the new MEGANE Estate GT, with the R.S. Drive
button
serving as an instant shortcut. In the Sport mode, the 4CONTROL technology truly comes into its own in
terms of response. The
steering wheel needs to be turned 40% less (a 5% difference compared to the other
modes) compared to an identical car without 4CONTROL, which favours a dynamic, surefooted ride on twisty roads.
The Sport mode adjusts the calibration of the
steering, the accelerator pedal mapping and the engine/transmission
mapping. The
Neutral mode is the default selection when the vehicle starts up and offers the optimum balance
between sportiness and comfort for everyday use.

The Comfort mode optimises fuel consumption by switching certain functions to an economy setting.

The
Perso mode can be configured by the driver, enabling them to adapt the vehicle to suit their mood of the
moment.

The new MEGANE Estate GT’s suspension system is completed by specific settings in Renault Sport’s traditional
areas of expertise, whilst at the same time preserving the vehicle’s
comfort and versatility.

The new MEGANE Estate GT is also fitted with specific
new springs, dampers, anti-roll bars and steering. The
springs and dampers provide
better vertical ride comfort, thereby contributing to the all-round ability of a vehicle
that is intended for everyday use, while at the same time providing a distinctive sporty feel.

The diameter of the brake discs is 30mm wider than those on the new MEGANE Estate (320mm at the
front/290mm at the rear) which translates into
enhanced stopping power.

Two engines developed by Renault Sport: Energy TCe 205 EDC and Energy dCi 165
EDC

The Energy TCe 205 EDC with seven-speed EDC transmission: 205hp and 280Nm of torque from 2,400rpm.

This 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol unit developed for the GT version by Renault Sport ensures brisk acceleration
and pick-up. Yet the level of driving enjoyment and performance it delivers remains compatible with low CO
2emissions (134g/km) and fuel consumption (6 litres/100km).

The Energy dCi 165 with six-speed EDC transmission: 165hp and 380Nm of torque from 1,750rpm.

Due out before the end of the year
, this diesel engine will round out the new MEGANE Estate GT’s engineline-up. This diesel unit benefits from Renault’s Twin-Turbo technology. The first, low-inertia turbo produces
immediate pick-up at low revs. The second turbo delivers sprightly response and dynamic mid-range
acceleration across a broad rev-band. This engine delivers power, sporty driving enjoyment and low fuel
consumption.

Launch Control and Multi-Change Down: two Renault Sport-inspired technologies

In the Sport mode, the new MEGANE Estate GT benefits from a raft of specific technologies developed by
Renault Sport engineers. Launch Control with the Energy TCe 205 EDC unit allows for considerably faster

acceleration from a standing start, whilst Multi-Change Down with the Energy TCe 205 EDC and Energy dCi
165 EDC units
significantly speeds up downshifting more than one gear at a time.

Perfect getaways courtesy of Launch ControlThe Launch Control system is inspired by the automatic starting systems employed by Renault cars on motor racingstarting grids. With ‘Launch Control’, the new MEGANE Estate GT is capable of fully managing standing starts. Thesystem’s sophisticated electronics ensure that it works as quickly as possible and in complete safety. This
means that the new MEGANE Es
tate GT is able to pull away from the starting line more cleanly and efficiently,
sprinting from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in just 7.4 seconds.

The system
is simple to operate: with the driver’s left foot on the brake pedal, Launch Control is activated bysimultaneously pulling and holding the two steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles, with confirmation provided bya ‘Launch Control On’ message displayed on the dashboard. With the driver’s right foot pressed down on theaccelerator pedal, the car pulls away as soon as the brake pedal is released.

In order to guard against mechanical damage, Launch Control is always under
electronic surveillance, which has
the ability to temporarily suspend its activation.

Faster downshifting with Multi-Change Down

After selecting the manual mode of the EDC transmission, Multi-Change Down enables the driver to downshiftseveral gears in quick succession while braking, through a simple activation of the paddle to the left of the steering
wheel. This means the car will be in the best gear to tackle the following corner.
